Animals Changed My Life!
Overnight Pet Care with Renee Gunn
Professional Pet Companion
After working in the corporate world for 26 years, I was bored with my life. Get up, go to work, go to bed. Repeat. I realized I was existing and not living. Time for a drastic change.
Lions, Tigers & Bears!
In 2012, I worked at a rural veterinary clinic and loved every minute of it. I even loved cleaning the kennels. I spent vacations at the Minnesota bear and wolf sanctuaries or volunteering at an exotic wildlife sanctuary, where I fed bears, wolves, lions, tigers, mountain lions, monkeys, and kangaroos.
In late 2013, I moved back to Texas and began volunteering with local animal rescues and with national and state animal emergency response organizations specializing in the emergency sheltering of animals during natural disasters, hoarding cases, and cruelty seizures. I have lots of stories from these deployments but I’m saving those for a book!
Pets Are Family
Speaking of book, in 2020 I wrote and published a book titled “Pets 101; Caring for Dogs and Cats”. This book was written as a reference to assist pet owners be fully prepared to develop and care for their valued pet. Pets today are more than pets- they’re family!
The past 3 years, I have been co-owner of a successful pet service-related company, became an instructor for pet CPR and First Aid, became a Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS), received the Fear Free Pet Sitter Certification, and now I feel it’s the right time to spread my wings and fly solo.

Have Questions on Overnight Pet Care?
The important thing is to not stop questioning.
Albert Einstein
What is Pet Sitting?
Pet Sit is defined as “look after a pet or pets while their owner is away, usually staying at the owner’s home in order to do so.”
What does a Pet Sitter do?
Pet Sitters perform a variety of tasks, including walking pets, feeding pets and refreshing water bowls, playing with pets, cleaning up pet waste, administer medications if needed, and give pets love and attention.
Why should I choose a professional Pet Sitter?
For a professional Pet Sitters, pet sitting is their primary business- you and your pet are our business and as such our priority. Professional Pet Sitters have insurance and are bonded, have service contracts with their clients, will have training, experience, knowledge and skills required to care for your pet in any situation.
Can you care for pets with special needs?
Yes. I have cared for a blind, anxious and shy pets, pets with seizures, diabetes, and allergies. As a former Veterinary Technician, I have been trained in various methods of administering medications.
Will you meet my pet prior to the pet sit?
Absolutely! Before the pet sit date, an initial meet and greet is required for all new clients. At this time, you can introduce me to your pets and if your pet allows, we can interact. This meet and greet is to ask one another questions. I will ask questions regarding your pet's schedule, behavior issues, medications, etc.
How do you handle a pet who is anxious, stressed, or fearful?
With over 10 years in animal care experience, I am knowledgeable at reading a pet's body language and the subtle cues they give. I have also increased my education in reading a pet's body language by taking a Canine Communications class as well as becoming Fear Free Pet Sitter certified with a focus on positive reinforcement.
Do you hire independent contractors? Who will be in my home?
I do not hire independent contractors as pet companions. I will be the only person in your home, caring for your pet. If I need to run an errand, your pet will not be alone longer than 4 hours.
